Wall Treatments

Wall treatments are as many as the starts in the sky and can accommodate any design and room need. To begin with the wall treatment used will depend on the type of material used and the surface it will be adhered to, since the purpose could be to add strength to a wall as well as décor.

With many more homes including a home theater acoustical wall treatments are important. The panels used are including sound proofing as well as noise and vibration control. They are often fabricated from recycled and cotton.

A painted wall treatment comes in almost any color of the spectrum, and specialty colors can be mixed by a professional to achieve a custom-made pigment for the room. Above that, painting is the most economical way to decorate the walls of a room.

Faux finishes are also quite popular, when having the real thing is not possible. A faux brick wall treatment is used to imitate natural materials such a brick, but can also be used to look like leather, marble and wood. An uncommon wall treatment is called lime painting wall treatment and as its name suggests involves the use of inorganic medium. Different paints would use a glue or similar material to adhere. Formal room wall treatments can be more extravagant and rich looking. Using wainscoting adds a certain accent and charm to a wall. It most commonly covers only one third of the wall with a chair rail to finish it off. With its look of elegantly carved wood and variety of wood finishes adds to formal setting.

Wall treatments can be as unique as the designer for a cozy, welcoming room. Sponging, ragging, stenciling or decorative stamping are possible. Each of these wall treatments require little or not training and can add color and style to any room. Many of the painting techniques require two shades of one color, making one of them darker than usual; this will make the lighter color stand out more in the end. Sponging a wall is one of the easiest wall coverings. By painting a base coat, then taking a rag and blotting a separate color on the wall, a design takes shape that can not be duplicated. A true original idea in wall treatments is a using tissue paper wall treatment. The tissue paper is adhered to the wall in a similar way as wall paper, though more delicate to work with.
