Dining Rooms
Dining rooms are not always the room they once were. There was a time when they were used daily and kept in perfect order. Today it is more common for them to be used as an office or computer room, and on rare occasions as a gathering place for parties and special family meals.
For those who like the idea of a true dining room there are options for inside and out.
A dining room can be the center of a family’s life, holidays and parties, and as with most rooms in your house the décor can be unique or traditional. One of the more popular styles would be the country dining room. These dining rooms boast old style wooden tables, some times with wooden benches on either side and chairs at either end. A wagon wheel chandelier sits above the table, holding either small lightbulbs, or for the adventurous candles that give of a warm glow for more private dinners. Add an antique wooden hutch housing antique dishes; and it is a scene straight-out of an old barn house. Often this type of décor will include many antique furniture pieces usually passed down from parents and grandparents.
Dining room décor, no matter the style should have personality and be inviting even if not being used on a regular basis. Choose rich colors that add life to the room and compliment the furniture. Another possibility is to use wall paper below the chair rail and coordinate the paint above. Adding a versatile dining room rug and multipurpose servers will outfit the dining room perfectly, for any size gathering.
It is more common now to have an outdoor dining room, complete with its own furniture, and what is known as an outdoor kitchen which combines a grill and small refrigerator. Though built to with stand the weather outside dining room furniture can be just as complimentary as indoors. With wood tables, chairs and credenza’s all the amenities are within reach. A wooden bar can be used to hold cups and condiments and extra grilling tools. Dining outdoors also offers the chance to grill and use a steak pit. These pits often are visually appealing and most times used in restaurants to the delight of the customers. In a home setting, once dinner is over, the fire can be used for dessert or to keep a warm glow as the sun sets, and the conversation continues.
